| The
reconnection of the people of Israel to their original roots has always moved me spiritually. The return of the people of Israel to the land of Israel constitutes an unprecedented fact among the nations of the world and, as such, it is still a wonder in itself. On May 14, 1948, the Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel succeeded in giving appropriate expression to this wonder. Nevertheless, today it often seems as if this wonder has been forgotten. There is a tendency to forget the existence of this declaration and to ignore the Zionist ideas which were expressed within it. Since the people of Israel were exiled from their homeland, they have always been firmly connected to the Book of Books, as an embryo is connected by the umbilical cord to its mother's womb. The Hebrew Bible and the Biblical language spiritually nurtured the nation was for thousands of years, a source which, over many generations, became the spiritual nutrient of many of the nations of the world. Many of the people who survived largely because of the Bible and the Hebrew language, have returned to their land, the land of Israel, and have continued to survive by means of an additional cord - their homeland, the land on which the people were born and raised thousands of years ago, the same piece of land in which the Book of Books was written. In 1948, the authors of the Declaration of the State of Israel wrote that... "The state of Israel will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel, it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex." In other words, the State of Israel would not be based only on the high values of freedom, justice and peace but also on a very special kind of freedom, justice and peace...as envisioned by the prophets of Israel! |

The Declaration of the Establishment of the state of Israel does not specify who the prophets of Israel are and exactly what their vision is, what they say about freedom, justice and peace. Within the limitations of the declaration, it would have been impossible to do justice to that vision. So the proclamation EFFECTIVELY INVITES those readers who truly care about the three foundation stones of freedom, justice and peace upon which the State of Israel is established -to STUDY the vision of the prophets in the Book of Books for themselves. Therefore, it is important for every citizen in the state of Israel, even dissenters, to become familiar and understand the vision of the prophets of Israel before consolidating their final ideas on the subjects of freedom justice and peace. Those who care and are thirsty for the truth are invited to study the vision of the Prophets of Israel. In these troubled times, there is almost no one among the nations of the world (including in the states of the Middle East and in particular in the State of Israel) that is not struggling with these issues. All of us in the middle East are paying a heavy price of blood and exhaustion, as we find ourselves in a situation in which all of us truly need the help of God. |
